What happens after the micro1 AI interview
After the Zara interview, human recruiters review the recording. If you meet the certification criteria, micro1 asks you to complete your profile and verify your ID, and you join a certified talent pool. Being in the pool makes you eligible for projects, but it is not a job offer: you are only onboarded when micro1 selects you for a specific project.
The short version
- Review: the interview is recorded so micro1's recruiters can review results and match candidates to roles.
- Certification: if you meet the minimum criteria, you are asked to finish your profile and validate your ID.
- Talent pool: after verification you receive a micro1 certificate and become eligible for matching.
- Selection: if a project picks you, you get an email with onboarding details and a contract.
- Onboarding: contract, payroll setup, background check, tools and project training, then real tasks.
Not everyone goes through every step, and micro1 makes every decision. The details below come from micro1's own expert library unless they are labelled as candidate reports.
Step 1: the recording is reviewed
micro1 says Zara's interviews are recorded so that human recruiters can review results and match candidates to roles. Interviews last 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how many skills are evaluated. Once you apply, Zara's questions are tailored to the skills that role requires.
If you have not done the interview yet, read the micro1 AI interview guide first. Most of what happens later depends on it.
Step 2: profile and ID verification
According to micro1's library, once you meet the minimum certification criteria you are prompted to complete your profile and verify your identity. A third-party provider handles the check, and micro1 says it never sees or stores your documents.
- Accepted IDs: passport, driver's license or national ID, unexpired.
- Scan the physical document with your device camera. Digital IDs and photos of an ID on another screen are not accepted.
- A selfie is required. Use good light, a plain background and a clean lens, and remove glasses or anything covering your face.
- Names must match: the name on the ID should match the legal name in your application.
- Timing: IDs in English or Arabic are usually verified automatically within minutes. IDs in other languages may go to manual review, which can take up to 72 hours.
Problems with this step go to verification@micro1.ai.
Step 3: the certified talent pool
After verification you receive your micro1 certificate and join the certified talent pool. micro1 describes two ways to get matched from there:
- invitations to relevant roles as they open;
- applying yourself to matching roles in the Opportunities Portal.
Certified experts can also track the status of all their applications in the Talent Dashboard and access the Certified Experts Community. micro1's expert page is clear that certification "does not guarantee immediate placement": you "may be invited" based on your expertise and project requirements.
Step 4: selection and onboarding
If you are selected, micro1 says you receive an email with next steps and onboarding details. Based on micro1's library, onboarding usually includes:
- A services agreement sent through Deel, micro1's payroll platform. Your profile there needs to be complete before you are added to the project.
- KYC in Deel to verify your identity for payments. micro1 says payments cannot be processed until it is done.
- A background check through KarmaCheck, which micro1 calls a legitimate and mandatory part of onboarding.
- Invitations to Slack, a micro1 expert email, the work platform and Hubstaff (time tracking for hourly contracts).
- Project training: instructions, videos, sample tasks and, on some projects, a quiz or test task before real work.
Payment details, schedules and tax forms are covered in the guide to micro1 payments and taxes.
How long candidates report waiting
micro1 does not publish a timeline for hearing back after the interview. What exists are candidate reports, and they vary a lot:
- An analysis of Reddit threads by annotation.academy reports candidates seeing a "Hiring Manager Reviewing" status for up to 30 days and then being marked "Not Selected".
- The same analysis reports others spending months in review without a paid project, and some who signed a contract but waited for tool access or received no tasks afterwards.
- Reviews on Trustpilot are mostly positive, and many describe the application and interview as fast. A few mention problems, including with support.
The fair reading: some people move from interview to project quickly, others wait weeks or never get matched. It depends on what projects are open, not only on how well you did.
What "not hearing back" can mean
Silence is not an official signal, so treat these as possibilities, not answers:
- No open project fits right now. micro1 says invitations come as relevant opportunities become available, and certification only makes you eligible.
- Your application is still under review. Check its status in the Talent Dashboard.
- A step is unfinished. You only receive the certificate after the profile and ID check are done.
- The email went elsewhere. Check spam and promotions folders for messages from micro1, Deel or KarmaCheck.
- You were not selected for that role. Some candidates report getting no explanation, even after asking for feedback.
Can you retake the interview or reapply?
micro1's public library does not document a retake policy, so this guide cannot promise one. What is documented: Zara's questions are tailored to the skills of the role you apply for, and certified experts can apply directly to other open roles in the Opportunities Portal. If a technical problem ruined your interview, contact support (below) and describe what happened.
micro1 also says that turning down an offer has no bearing on future offers.
Where to contact micro1
- During the interview: the "Having Trouble?" button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Candidate support: help@micro1.ai. Include your full name, the email you applied with, the role and a short description or screenshot. micro1 says support is by email only and aims to reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
- ID verification: verification@micro1.ai.
- Once on a project: ask your project lead or manager first (micro1's FAQ calls them HDL/HDM), then support@micro1.ai.
This site is not micro1 and cannot check or change the status of any application.
What to do while you wait
- Make sure your profile, ID check and availability are complete and up to date.
- Apply to other roles that match your skills. Once certified, you can do this directly in the Opportunities Portal.
- Keep other options open. The micro1 vs Mercor vs Outlier comparison covers the main platforms.
