AI Training Roles

Search, Ads and Maps Quality Rater AI Training Interview Questions

Rater roles ask you to judge how relevant and useful search results, ads, map suggestions or social media content are for a given query and location, following long written guidelines. Several postings in this group say there is no formal interview, but that you must pass learning modules and a quality test designed by the client before work starts. Practise thinking in terms of user intent.

Practice questions

These are practice questions written for this site to help you prepare. No platform has said it asks these exact questions.

  1. What is user intent, and why does it matter when rating a search result?

A good answer covers: Intent is what the person is trying to do (know, go, buy, do). A result is only relevant if it serves that intent for that user and location.

  2. Rate this ad for the query 'cheap running shoes near me' and explain.

A good answer covers: Check that the ad matches the product, the price expectation and the local need. Explain which part matches and which does not.

  3. The query is ambiguous. How do you rate results that serve only one meaning?

A good answer covers: Consider the most likely meanings for that locale; a result serving the dominant meaning rates higher than one serving a rare meaning.

  4. How does the user's location change a rating?

A good answer covers: Local queries need local results; a perfect result in another city or country can be useless. Mention language and currency too.

  5. What makes a page low quality even if it is on-topic?

A good answer covers: Thin or copied content, misleading claims, excessive ads, or no clear author or purpose.

  6. How would you rate a map suggestion that is closed or has moved?

A good answer covers: Low, because it fails the user's goal, and flag the data problem if the guideline allows.

  7. How do you stay consistent with other raters?

A good answer covers: Follow the guideline examples closely, re-read sections when unsure, and rely on the guideline over personal taste.

  8. What would you do if you are unsure about a task after reading the guideline?

A good answer covers: Use the project's help channel or skip option if one exists rather than guessing, and note the reason.

  9. Why do companies use human raters for ads and search?

A good answer covers: Human judgements are used to measure and improve how well ranking systems match what people want; raters do not directly change rankings.
